Keeping Pepto-Bismol and Alka-Seltzer in Business

23 Jan

Milk and Pepsi.

It was Laverne’s favorite drink.

I had never heard of such a thing.

It was strange, who would have thought to mix the two together. Not me, that’s for sure. But Laverne was quirky. I enjoyed watching her adventures every week on Laverne & Shirley, and cracking up. So I thought maybe I’d try it.

Dude.

Laverne has a special palette.

I hadn’t thought about that combination in such a long time until I heard someone say that they were going to eat a banana sandwich.

A mayonnaise and banana sandwich!

Dude.

I needed an Alka-Seltzer just hearing that. I didn’t even want to attempt that, the sound of it just grossed me out. I was unaware that people were out there creating such catastrophes with mayonnaise. First they mix it into this whole chocolate cake thing and now bananas. I’m at a loss for words.

As I scanned the Internet to see if this banana mayonnaise concoction existed I came across a few others that made me want to reach for the Pepto-Bismol.

1. Ketchup and tuna salad.

2. Mashed potatoes and Oreo Cookies.

3. Bananas and onion soup.

4. Macaroni and Cheese and ketchup.

5. Lamb and anchovies.

6. Fruit cake and cheese.

7. Squid and banana salad.

8. Pickles and frosting.

9. Spaghetti topped with M&Ms.

10. Cottage cheese and ketchup.

**Bonus … Beer and corn flakes.

After hearing all of these stomach churning combos, Milk and Pepsi didn’t sound that bad.

What about you?

Any weird food pairings that make you cringe?

I had a similar post last year and it was too funny to read the pairings. I felt like I needed to stand in the bathroom to read some of them. Ahem. Having said that, I love cold coffee and potato chips. Dude, it’s heaven. And I miss Boo Boo Kitty. Those were the days.

Coffee and chips, huh? Not much of a coffee drinker myself, but I do love chips … And Boo Boo Kitty? What’s up with that, never watched or heard the show, did they feature crazy food combos too?

Boo Boo Kitty was Laverne’s stuffed animal cat!

Boo Boo Kitty was Shirley’s, ha! I had forgotten that one! But I do remember Charmine, Squiggy, and Lenny.

I can’t add to that list, except to say “broccoli and anything”.

Yeah … That veggie is hard to pair up, I’ve heard some people put cheese on it.

      • bgddyjim January 28, 2015 at 1:18 PM #

I have a tough time understanding why people actually eat it!

        • The Guat January 28, 2015 at 1:39 PM #

Vitamins. Plus people always saying you gotta eat more greens.

I’ll take your word for it.

This kid in high school used to put French fries on his peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
I make macar ONI and cheese with tomatoes so ketchup doesn’t surprise me. I haven’t had a Pepsi since 2008, so I won’t be trying that. Ewwwww!

Dude fries on a PB&J sounds crazy! I just remembered on Pulp Fiction they talk about dipping fries in mayo … Gross! I’m not much of a soda person either.

I knew someone who would put ketchup on Mac and Cheese. What the? Don’t mess with perfection! I think I’m pretty boring. The crazies I get is putting cottage cheese on my baked potato.

    • The Guat January 28, 2015 at 1:20 PM #

Yeah the ketchup thing through me off, but cottage cheese and baked potato don’t sad bad at all.

I do the mac and cheese/ketchup combo every now and again. Only with Kraft though. If I make my mac and cheese, it’s all about that.
Gotta say, this list makes my contribution seem tame in comparison. I like eggs and corn chips for breakfast every once in a while. Throw some Fritos into the frying pan, toss in a couple eggs, let them get to know each other for a tad…and serve. Preferably with some hot sauce. Yum.

    • The Guat January 28, 2015 at 1:22 PM #

I’ve heard of egg salad and Fritos…something about the crunchiness, but never have I heard of them getting to know each other in a pan. Might have to pass that on to my Fritos-loving friend.

I love Marmite and almond butter on toast. Can’t imagine ever eating peanut butter and grape jelly. Yuck!

    • The Guat January 28, 2015 at 1:24 PM #

Ha! That’s funny my friend has kids who love peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, my kids prefer just peanut butter.
